About that last post...

It dawned on me as I began converting The Haiku Commentator into a different sort of blogging concept that perhaps a "conversion" wasn't really the right way to go. The URL was the first indicator. Changing the banner for The Haiku Commentator was easy. Changing the URL could only be accomplished by creating a new blog. After that, I could transfer all of the posts from The Haiku Commentator to the new blog at the new URL.

Except...

The Haiku Commentator was born out of a specific circumstance as an experiment to see if I actually wanted to blog at all. NaBloWriMo became the excuse to launch the experiment. Like most experiments, it proved that some parts of my hypothesis about blogging were dead right. Other parts were wrong to the point of being crass. I think limiting the length of each post to a Haiku was a great idea from a "give the people something quick and deceptively easy to read and let them move on" design standpoint. Actually writing a Haiku day after day, even when I didn't want to, even when I wanted to deviate from format--that didn't turn out to be as easy as I expected, and I was only expecting to stick with it for a month.

So, for better or for worse, I think The Haiku Commentator is its own thing now. Importing the old posts to the new blog would more or less create an unnecessary non sequitur. Life is confusing enough without crap like that.

So, I invite you to make the leap over to the new blog to see what it wants to be when it grows up. I'm curious to know myself.

Wow. Has it really been almost eighteen months since I posted something?

As you can see (or more likely not since it's been long enough now that paying attention kind of lost its luster a while ago), The Haiku Commentator is no more. If the sudden appearance of this post induces a heart attack, I disavow any and all responsibility. Sometimes it takes a year-and-a-half to make the obvious official.

So, what now?

That's a really good question. The one thing I know for sure is that zombies will mostly NOT be involved, except when they are. Otherwise, the field is wide open. Life is usually weird enough that, sooner or later, something comes along worth mentioning. I mean, the 5 billion bloggers already out there are living proof, right?

Make that 5,000,000,001. And no zombies. Mostly.

The Haiku Commentator deeply regrets that his already o'er-crowded brain has been short-circuited today with anticipation of a certain Dinosaur Jr. show he will attend tonight at The Vic Theatre in Chicago. Today's Haiku (Japanese, Celtic or otherwise) has been preempted by this sad state of mind, further exacerbated by the disturbing realization that the last time said Haiku Commentator saw Dinosaur Jr. was at Lollapalooza in 1993.

Greetings, and condolences. If you are reading this blog it can only be because you are a) hopelessly lost, b) indiscriminately perusing blogs like a binge drinker at Oktoberfest, or c) a friend/associate who I have somehow baited into reading this blog. Lucky you.
